City of Laurel, Safely Kept Stakes ‘Win and In’ for Malibu, La Brea

LAUREL, MD – Two of the four stakes on Laurel Park’s Saturday, Nov. 30 program will serve as ‘Win and In’ qualifiers for a pair of Grade 1 races at Santa Anita Park next month, the Maryland Jockey Club announced today.

LAUREL, MD – Brittlyn Stables’ Minit to Stardom, winner of the Honorable Miss (G2) this summer at Saratoga, will be heavily favored making her first start in six weeks Friday, Nov. 8 to help Laurel Park kick off a special holiday week schedule.

LAUREL, MD – The Stronach 5 returns Friday with a $100,000 guaranteed pool and races from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields.

The sequence begins at 4:10 ET at Laurel Park with a field of 14 claimers going six furlongs and will conclude less than an hour later with a dozen 2-year-old maiden fillies going a mile on the turf at Gulfstream.

LAUREL, MD – Gunpowder Farms and Millennium Farms’ 3-year-old filly Arrifana, racing around two turns for the first time, kept her perfect record intact with a popular half-length victory in Friday’s feature race at Laurel Park.

With regular rider Julian Pimentel aboard, Arrifana ($2.40) ran about 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.72 over a fast main track for her fourth win in as many starts for trainer Kelly Rubley.

LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park will resume its live race schedule with a 10-race Halloween program Thursday, Oct. 31.

First race post time is 12:25 p.m.

Racing and training had been suspended at Laurel since Thursday, Oct. 24 due to a broken water pipe located on the track apron along the outer rail of the main track, which has now been repaired.

Miss J McKay Breezes Saturday for Breeders' Cup

LAUREL, MD – Maxis Stable, Madaket Stable and Wonder Stables’ stakes winner Miss J McKay breezed over Laurel Park’s world-class turf course Saturday morning ahead of an anticipated start in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1).

Under fall meet-leading jockey Trevor McCarthy, who will retain the mount in the Breeders’ Cup, Miss J McKay was clocked in 49.20 seconds for a half-mile on a course rated soft.

Laurel Park Cancels Saturday and Sunday Programs

Facility Will Remain Open for Simulcasting

LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park has cancelled its live racing programs for Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27 as work continues to repair a broken water pipe along the track apron.

The decision was made to cancel the final two days of Laurel’s four-day race week to ensure the pipe issue has been properly resolved for the safety of its horses and horsemen.
