Double Carryovers for Saturday’s Winter Carnival Program

LAUREL, MD – There will be carryovers in both the 20-cent Rainbow 6 and $1 Super Hi-5 wagers to help heat up a stakes-filled Winter Carnival program Saturday at Laurel Park highlighted by the $250,000 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie (G3) and $250,000 General George (G3) for older sprinters.

First race post time is 12:25 p.m.

LAUREL, MD – Irad Ortiz Jr., the country’s leading rider, doesn’t make many trips to Laurel Park. In fact, it’s been three years since the two-time Eclipse Award winning rider has visited Laurel. But Ortiz, currently the leading rider at Gulfstream Park’s Championship Meet, will ride Saturday’s stakes-laden card.

LAUREL, MD – Gary Barber, Wachtel Stable and Terp Racing’s Grade 2 winner Still Having Fun blazed through his lone breeze Saturday in advance of his next scheduled start in the $250,000 General George (G3) Feb. 15 at Laurel Park.

Jockey Feargal Lynch was aboard as Still Having Fun went five furlongs in 1:00 over Laurel’s main track, the fastest of 12 horses at the distance. Lynch has been named to ride in the seven-furlong General George.
