Change in Laurel’s Fall Racing Calendar Has Horsemen Excited

Four-Day Week to Include Mondays Starting Oct. 9
 
LAUREL, MD – Horsemen are looking forward to showing off Laurel Park’s improved product and facilities to a larger audience when the switch in racing dates to include Mondays through mid-December kicks off next month.
 
By adding Mondays, Laurel will become the primary focus on the TVG Network, which will broadcast each race live that day.

LAUREL, MD – Oak Bluff Stables’ Therapist overcame erratic behavior before the start of Saturday’s $100,000 Laurel Futurity, straightening out in the stretch to prevail by a head.
 
The 91st running Laurel Futurity, a six-furlong turf sprint for 2-year-olds, was the last of seven stakes featured on the 12-race Fall Festival of Racing program headlined by the $250,000 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash (G3).

LAUREL, MD – Quiet Winter Farm’s Snowday, narrowly beaten in his graded stakes debut just 12 days earlier, forged a short lead approaching the wire and emerged from a four-way blanket finish with a head victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Fidelity First and Blackwell Real Estate Laurel Dash at Laurel Park.
 

Wise Gal Stays Undefeated with Victory in $100,000 Selima Stakes

LAUREL, MD – Wise Gal, bred and owned by Eric Wirth and trained by Dove Houghton, drove away from her opponents impressively down the stretch to win Saturday’s $100,000 Selima Stakes, the first of seven stakes on Laurel Park’s Fall Festival of Racing program.
 
Ridden by Steve Hamilton, Wise Gal rallied five-wide entering the stretch before pulling away to a 4 ¼ length victory. Madame X. finished second, 1 ¼ lengths in front of Eighty Six Mets.
