Shortened Stronach 5 Returns $2,685

LAUREL, MD – Friday’s Stronach 5 became the Stronach 4 when heavy rains forced the cancellation of four races at Pimlico Race Course, including the ninth race and second leg of the national pick five.

After Smoovie won the sixth race at Santa Anita Park and the final leg of the Stronach 5, 41 bettors would each win $2,685.60.

With the Pimlico ninth race being an ‘all,’ the winning combination was 7/ALL/6/3,7,12,13,14/1.

LAUREL, MD – A severe thunderstorm bringing heavy rain and lightning through the area forced Laurel Park to cancel the remaining five races on Thursday’s 10-race card.

The storm moved in as horses were being saddled for the sixth race. After waiting several minutes in the paddock for the weather to pass, the decision was made to cancel.

A gelded 6-year-old son of City Zip trained by Ed Graham and ridden by Jorge Vargas Jr., Pizmo Time ($7) ran one mile in 1:33.91 over firm ground in the $45,000 second-level optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up.
