MARYLAND JOCKEY CLUB AND UFCW LOCAL 27 REACH LABOR AGREEMENT

LAUREL, MD - On April 29, The United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 27 voted to ratify a new labor agreement with the Maryland Jockey Club affecting over 150 unionized employees at the company’s Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Courses.  The agreement, which represents Betting Window Tellers, Parking Lot Attendants, Starting Gate Workers, Security Officers, Jockey Valets and others, provides, among other things, improved health benefits and competitive wage increases over the next three years.

Maryland Jockey Club Restructures Summer Dates

LAUREL, MD - The Maryland Jockey Club has been given permission by the Maryland Racing Commission to amend its summer racing schedule.

Pimlico, originally slated to run an August meet for the first time since 2005, will now run a nine-day meet in September while the original August dates (Aug. 5-21) will remain at Laurel Park.

The shifting of dates is due to the Aug. 6-7 Moonrise electronic music festival held at Pimlico.
