LAUREL, MD – A severe weather system passing through the area, producing heavy rain and multiple lighting strikes, forced the cancellation of Saturday’s live race program at historic Pimlico Race Course.

Forecast to bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, the storm rolled in shortly before Saturday’s fifth race and, following a delay, the decision was made to cancel racing out of safety concerns for horses, horsemen and fans.

Ridden by Jaime Rodriguez, Mr. Mox ($10.20) ran five furlongs in 58.28 seconds over a fast main track surrounded by late-running stablemates Buff Money and Slaats, both from leading Maryland trainer Claudio Gonzalez, in the $46,000 maiden special weight event.
