The 25th running of the one-mile Miracle Wood for 3-year-olds was the last of three undercard stakes on a Winter Carnival program headlined by the $250,000 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie (G3) and $250,000 General George (G3), both for older sprinters.

Friday’s sequence kicked off in the eighth-race finale at Laurel Park, won by 3-5 favorite Unbridled Outlaw ($3.40). After Kitten by the Sea ($9) captured Gulfstream Park’s seventh race, the final three legs produced upsets - Independent Indy ($25.20) in Race 3 at Golden Gate Fields, Teachers Big Dream ($22.60) in Race 4 at Santa Anita and I’ll Do It My Way ($35.60) in Race 10 at Gulfstream.
