Surges Late to Catch Cutty Shark at Wire in $250,000 Stakes

            LAUREL, MD. 02/16/15 --- Racing for the first time in Maryland, Repole Stable’s Misconnect made a dramatic late surge in the final 50 yards to catch Cutty Shark at the wire and win the $250,000 General George Handicap (G3) by a neck Monday at Laurel Park.

            Trainer  Donald H. Barr (Savvy Street):  "It went like I planned it. I wanted to bring him off the pace a little bit and  Forest [jockey Forest Boyce] is the best at that.  It was a tough race. The scratch of one of the favorites helped, but my horse has been improving over time. I'm excited to see him go two turns. This is his last one turn race. We hope to go to Pimlico and see what happens.

Wright’s Lady Sabelia demonstrated an affinity for Laurel Park’s racing surface once again Saturday, speeding to her fourth-straight victory over the main track to run away with the $300,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap (G2), a seven-furlong event for fillies and mares.

            "She has been getting better from a year and 1/2 ago. She is cool and relaxed about everything. Whatever you ask her to do she does. This one is good for the home team. She only ran four times last year because of an eye problem. Whenever she is off that is why. We haven't thought past today...wanted to see where this goes. I will consider taking her to bigger things. I don't give Horacio a lot of instructions. He knows not to get into a fight with her."
