Holiday Week Includes Thanksgiving Day Card, Guys' Weekend

LAUREL, MD. 11-22-11---Thanksgiving traditions: turkey dinner, NFL games and thoroughbred racing at Laurel Park. The central Maryland track offers a special 11:05 a.m. post time Thursday with a nine-race card. Headlining the day will be the 24th annual pie giveaway (pumpkin or apple) after the fifth race at both Laurel and its sister track, Pimlico Race Course. Free donuts with coffee or cider will also be available from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Laurel’s terrace dining room will feature a traditional, home-style Thanksgiving buffet for $23.

LAUREL, MD. 11-12-11---Rosalee Davison’s Art of the Hunt was fifth at the top of the stretch but was altered six-wide for racing room by jockey Luis Garcia and got to the wire first in a competitive $60,000 Squan Song Stakes at Laurel Park Saturday afternoon. The seven-furlong test drew 10 Maryland-bred fillies and mares who have never won a stakes race.

Suzzona Preps For Winter In Florida With Six Turf Tally of '11

LAUREL, MD. 11-11-11---Multiple stakes winner Suzzona won with a workman like performance in Friday’s second race at Laurel Park, a $35,000 allowance race, holding off Miss Oil by a neck as a 2-5 favorite with Julian Pimentel aboard in a 5-1/2 furlong test. She will make her next start in the Lightning City Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on December 3, a race she won a year ago.
