Trainer John Servis (Ms Locust Point): “She’s just now really learned to settle. You know the old saying, ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ I don’t want to throw too much at her too quick. I have to talk with [owners] Mr. [Chuck] Zachney and Jim [Reichenberg] and see if we want to try a Grade 1 next or do we want to try another Grade 2, Grade 3 and see how she handles them. She’s got such a brilliant cruising speed. She clicks off those 12’s like nothing, with her ears pricked.”
“We’ll certainly think about [the Madison at Keeneland]. It’s a Grade 1, see how she’s training heading up to that and see how the race is shaping up and see what chuck and Jim have to say and go from there.”
“I’d love to talk you through it, but I couldn’t see that much. I saw her break sharp and I know there wasn’t a whole lot of speed in here but I really couldn’t tell if she was settling or if she was running against the bit. Jorge came back and said she settled great, so that was a good thing.”
“She’s breezed on a good track, never a muddy track. She trains good on a muddy track, galloping-wise. With the glue-ono shoes you’re always a little bit concerned about those because there’s no nails, and glue-ons for whatever reason the cold weather tends to break down the adhesive. She actually lost a shoe in her last race.”
“She had foot issues, that’s why we stopped on her. We put some corrective shoes on her and gave her plenty of time. These guys were great letting me take as long as we needed, and she’s come back a monster.”
Jorge Vargas Jr. (jockey, Ms Locust Point): "She really can run. She took me there. Last time, I was trying to relax her a bit, but she likes to run."
"[The sloppy track] was something I was a little concerned about. She's won on a off track before, but not like this. But she took to it good."
