Lael Stables’ Chalon won the Primonetta Stakes April 21 at Laurel to open her 4-year-old season and has since won the Regret Stakes and run second in the Vagrancy (G3) and Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) Oct. 6. Happy Like a Fool was fifth in the TCA, her first start since a front-running 6 ½-lenth romp in the Adena Springs Miss Preakness (G3) May 18 at legendary Pimlico Race Course.

On the same Laurel card as Chalon, also based at the Fair Hill Training Center in Elkton, Md., Matt Schera’s Glorious Empire began his season in the Henry S. Clark Stakes before reeling off three straight wins including the Bowling Green (G2) and Sword Dancer (G1), earning an automatic berth in Saturday’s $4 million Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1). Immediately preceding the Classic, post time for the Turf is 4:56 p.m.

Raymond Mamone’s Imperial Hint, whose first open stakes win and first graded-stakes win came last winter at Laurel Park, is the program favorite in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) Saturday, a field that includes 2017 Maryland Sprint (G3) winner Whitmore. Post time is 2:46 p.m.
