Bloody Point is Sharp in Career Debut

Capuano Saddles Three Winners, Bracho Wins First at Laurel

LAUREL, MD - Alpha Delta Stable’s Bloody Point, a 3-year-old filly by War Front, won her career debut in impressive style, winning over six furlongs against maiden special weight company in 1:11.79. It was another 2 ½ lengths back to Head for the Shore in second. Bloody Point, who drew away from her rivals in upper stretch albeit greenly, is trained by Arnaud Delacour and is out of the mare Mona de Momma, winner of the 2010 Humana Distaff (G1) and 2011 Santa Maria (G2).

“She broke good out of the gate,” said jockey Horacio Karamanos. “I think she can improve a lot.”

Alpha Delta campaigned multiple-graded stakes winner Lewis Bay, Sabin Stakes (G2) winner Devil’s Cave and Lake George (G2) winner Ancient Secret.

In the 10th race feature, a $45,000 optional claimer at 5 ½ furlongs on the turf, Heider Family Stable’s Contributing gave jockey Jose Bracho his first win at Laurel. The 3-year-old filly by Medaglia d’Oro trained by Thomas Proctor, returned $25.80 while covering the distance in 1:02.25.

“She broke sharp and responded very well when I asked,” Bracho said. “It was a great win. I’m glad I got my first win at Laurel.”

Earlier in the afternoon, trainer Dale Capuano saddled three winners in My Train ($8.40) in the second, Piper Hill ($15.20) in the third and Tricky Lion ($9) in the fifth.
