LAUREL, MD. 01-15-15---Maryland Jockey Club racing analyst Gabby Gaudet will be handicapping at Gulfstream Park this weekend. Gulfstream Park is the sister track of Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park.

The 23-year-old will be part of Gulfstream’s pre-race coverage Friday morning and will handle paddock duties Saturday afternoon on Sunshine Millions Day. The 11-race card features five stakes races open to Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland-breds. Gaudet will remain in south Florida on Sunday and Monday as Gulfstream’s HRTV reporter before returning to Maryland.

“It is really exciting this year since they opened the Sunshine Millions races to horses from the mid-Atlantic,” Gaudet said. “I will have a familiarity with horses from Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York. We have had a number of New York shippers coming down to Laurel during the fall and winter months. It will be a great opportunity to use that knowledge down at Gulfstream. It is going to be a big weekend in Florida since local writers Joe Clancy and John Scheinman won media Eclipse Awards.”

The 44^th Eclipse Awards will be held at Gulfstream Saturday night.

Temperatures are expected to be in the 70’s the entire weekend in Hallandale Beach. The average high temperature in central Maryland during the first seven days of the winter meet has been 37 degrees. 

“I will not have to not have to wear a hat and gloves for four days,” added Gaudet. “I enjoy being in the paddock because you are part of the action. It can provide a handicapping advantage when a 2-5 shot might be really heated or acting up.”

Track announcer Dave Rodman and morning line maker Keith Feustle will take care of handicapping duties at Laurel while Gaudet is in Florida.
