Christmastide Day Stakes Attract 107 Nominations

LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park lowers the curtain on its 2019 stakes schedule Saturday, Dec. 28 with a Christmastide Day program of five stakes worth $500,000 in purses which attracted a total of 107 nominations.

Entries will be taken and post positions drawn Sunday, Dec. 22 for all five stakes.

Friday Stronach 5 to Feature $100,000 Guaranteed Pool, Races from Gulfstream and Laurel

LAUREL, MD – Friday’s Stronach 5, featuring an industry-low 12-percent takeout, will have a guaranteed pool of $100,000 and races from Gulfstream Park and Laurel Park.

The Stronach 5 will have three races from Gulfstream, including two at a distance on the turf, and an allowance optional claimer for 2-year-olds at a mile featuring Juddmonte Farms Inc.’s Toledo and Gelfenstein Farm LLC’s Masterday.

LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park will wrap up its weekend of live racing Sunday, Dec. 15 with carryovers in the 20-cent Rainbow 6, $1 Late Pick 5 and $1 Super Hi-5 on a nine-race program that kicks off at 12:25 p.m.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot carryover stands at $15,973.28 after going unsolved during Saturday’s card. Tickets with five of six winners returned $412.58.

Friday Stronach 5 Returns $19,386

LAUREL, MD – There were seven winning tickets in Friday’s Stronach 5, each worth $19,386.60.

The Stronach 5, featuring an industry-low 12-percent takeout, $100,000 guaranteed pool and races from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields, kicked off with Barbsgray Lion ($17.20) winning the eighth race at Laurel and Spicy Meatball ($12.80) winning Laurel’s ninth race. They would be the highest payoffs of the sequence.
