Pimentel Finishes with Three-Win Afternoon
Rainbow 6, Super Hi-5 Carryovers for Sunday Program
LAUREL, MD – Journeyman Horacio Karamanos opened and closed racing with victories to highlight a four-win afternoon Saturday at Laurel Park.
Karamanos, 44, kicked off Saturday’s 10-race program aboard Little Caton ($4.20), then won back-to-back races on Linda Nin ($16) in the fifth and Valyrian ($5.80) in the sixth before taking the finale with Mary Eppler-trained Something Magical ($13.40).
“Thank God we won four races,” Karamanos said. “I’m happy to win for Mary, too. She’s one of my best trainers and gives me a lot of chances to ride good horses. The filly, she can run. She was rank so I tried to relax her and at the top of the stretch when I start to whip she give me a kick again and ran hard. I think she could be a nice filly.”
Jockey Julian Pimentel finished with a riding triple on Saturday aboard Union Blues ($3.40) in the second race, Where’s Dominic ($8.80) in the seventh and first-time starter Oldies But Goodies ($20.60) in the eighth.
