Kobiskie Saddles Three Winners Wednesday Afternoon
LAUREL, MD. 11-23-11---Trainer Dane Kobiskie saddled three winners Wednesday afternoon at Laurel Park, including the last two races on the nine-race card.
The 32-year-old scored with Live the Dash ($3.40-fifth), Manito ($3.40-eighth) and One to a Royal ($9.80-ninth). The former rider has a career-best 98 victories this year, including 52 at Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course.
“Very impressive performance by Manito who missed the break but was still able to get it done against a solid group,” Kobiskie said. “The goal at the beginning of the year was 100 wins. I have great owners (PTK LLC). They trust my judgment.”
Kobiskie leads the Laurel Park fall trainer standings with 23 victories, from just 65 starters, two more than Jamie Ness. Hamilton Smith is third with 19 trips to the winners’ circle.
Ness and Dove Houghton each saddled two winners on the program. Ness got the ball rolling by winning the first two races on the card with Cayman Condo ($3) and Repenter ($4.20). Houghton joined in on the fun with back-to-back victories in the next two races with Hitchin’ Tothemoon ($11.60) and Cool Punch ($5.40).
In the rider standings, Julian Pimentel leads Horacio Karamanos by one, 40-39 with Sheldon Russell (37) and Abel Castellano (33) within striking distance.
The 68-day fall stand ends on Saturday, December 17.
