Three Carryovers on Friday's 10-Race Program

LAUREL, MD - Mrs. Frank Wright's Grade 2 winner Lady Sabelia, a model of consistency throughout her career, is expected to be the favorite Saturday to defend her title when she faces seven others in the $100,000 Willa On the Move Stakes at Laurel Park.

The Willa On the Move is one of three $100,000 stakes races on Laurel's Saturday program. The $100,000 Marylander Stakes, for 2-year-olds going seven furlongs, drew a field of seven while the $100,000 The Gin Talking Stakes, for 2-year-old fillies, also drew seven.

Lady Sabelia, a 5-year-old mare by Majestic Warrior trained by Robin Graham, has won nine of 17 starts and has finished worse than third only twice in her career. Lady Sabelia won the Safely Kept at Laurel in 2013 and the Red Cross at Monmouth and Willa On the Move at Laurel in 2014. After winning the What A Summer and Barbara Fritchie (G2) at Laurel earlier this year, Lady Sabelia shipped to Belmont last month and won the Pumpkin Pie by 7 1/2 lengths. Unlike her other races, Lady Sabelia came from well behind to win at Belmont. "We just didn't want her to get too rapid," Graham said. "When she gets in front and they're behind her she gets competitive and gets too rapid. But if you can work around that, everything's good."

Graham, whose mare will carry 124 pounds including jockey Horacio Karamanos, said "everything seems great" for the Willa On the Move, who was owned by Peter Angelos and was the winner of the Honorable Miss Handicap (G3) and finished second in the Acorn (G1), Azalea Breeders' Cup (G3) and Miss Preakness Stakes (G3).

Never Gone South will be one of the favorites in the Marylander. Trained by Cathal Lynch, the 2-year-old son of Munnings broke his maiden at Parx, won the Strike Your Colors at Delaware and finished second last time out in the James Lewis III at Laurel. Trevor McCarthy will ride. Tale of E Dubai enters the Marylander off a 5 1/2-length maiden victory Nov. 11 at Laurel.

Prognosis, a daughter of Tiznow trained by Tim Woolley, leads a group of competitive fillies in The Gin Talking. After breaking her maiden at Ellis Park in September, Prognosis won an entry-level allowance race Oct. 21 at Keeneland. Jevian Toledo gets the mount. Trainer George Weaver ships Thundering Sky in for the Gin Talking after finishing second in her only start Oct. 18 at Belmont. Mecke's Madalyn ships in from Fair Hill for trainer Corby Caiazzo. The filly broke her maiden at Penn National in October before winning the Shesastonecoldfox Stakes at Finger Lakes Nov. 6.

Laurel's 10-race program Friday will feature three carryovers.

The Rainbow 6 will have a $24,060.41 carryover while the Super Hi 5 in the first race will have a $2,234.02 carryover and the Pick 5 a $2,279.61 carryover.
