Laurel Park to Card Special Program Monday, Nov. 28

LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park will card a special live program Monday, Nov. 28 to make up for Sunday’s cancelled program.
 
Track officials cancelled Sunday’s program after the first race due to extremely windy conditions.
 
Race conditions for next Monday’s program, which will feature nine races and a 12:30 p.m. first race post, will be available tomorrow morning and the racing office will take entries Friday.
 

High Winds Force Cancellation of Racing at Laurel Park

LAUREL, MD - Live racing at Laurel Park was cancelled following the running of the first race Sunday due to extremely windy conditions.

“We decided to err on the side of caution,” said Sal Sinatra, President and General Manager of the Maryland Jockey Club. “The winds were very strong; there was some debris flying around. The safety of our jockeys and our horses is our utmost priority.”

Windy conditions also forced the cancellation of full cards at other Mid-Atlantic and Northeast racetracks.

Three Carryovers on Laurel’s De Francis Program Saturday

LAUREL, MD – Laurel Park’s Fall Festival of Racing, featuring the De Francis (G3) Dash presented by Maker’s Mark, will have three carryovers.
 
The day kicks off with a $4,742.45 Super Hi 5 carryover in the first race, a 5 ½ furlong turf sprint featuring a full field of 12 with four on the also eligible list.
 
The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will have a carryover of $16,278.14 while the Pick 5 has a carryover of $3,784.02.
