Laurel Cancels Friday Program Due to Tropical Storm
Summer Meet Scheduled to Resume with Nine Races Saturday
LAUREL, MD – A forecast calling for high winds and heavy rain in the wake of Tropical Storm Debby has led the Maryland Jockey Club to cancel Friday’s nine-race program at Laurel Park.
The tropical storm, which first made landfall last week in Florida, has moved up the East Coast and was expected to pass through the Mid-Atlantic region bringing wind gusts of up to 33 mph and as much as two inches of rain according to the National Weather Service.
The summer meet is scheduled to resume Saturday at Laurel with a live nine-race program beginning at 12:25 p.m.
