Facility Remains Open for Simulcasting
LAUREL, MD – Due to the polar vortex moving across the eastern U.S. with dangerously cold temperatures and high wind gusts, Laurel Park announced today it has cancelled live racing for Thursday, Jan. 31.
Laurel will remain open Thursday for simulcast wagering.
“With record-setting arctic air moving into the area and wind gusts expected up to 50 mph, we felt it was in the best interest of our athletes to cancel racing Thursday,” said Maryland Jockey Club President Sal Sinatra.
Sinatra said Laurel will run 10 races on Saturday and Sunday with first race post on the weekend at 12:15 p.m.
