LAUREL, MD - The Maryland Jockey Club's Champions Tournament, with more than $30,000 in prize money and berths to the National Handicapping Championship (NHC), Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC) and The Big One, will be held Saturday, March 12 at Laurel Park.
The Champions Tournament, a single-day competition, will be held in Laurel's Carriage Room. The competition is limited to the first 300 entries and there will be two entries maximum per person. There is a $100 non-refundable fee per entry and entrants will be required to stake a $200 account bankroll to make win, place and show wagers on designated tracks - Laurel, Gulfstream Park, Tampa Bay Downs, Santa Anita and Aqueduct.
Entrants must place a minimum of 10 wagers with $20 minimum wagers.
There will be two berths available to the NHC, one to the BCBC and one to The Big One.
This year's tournament will allow the winner to choose his/her berth in either the National Handicapping Championship, Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge or The Big One. The second-place finisher will receive a choice of the remaining berths and a minimum of $2,000, the third-place finisher the remaining berths and a minimum of $1,000, and the fourth-place finisher the remaining berth and a minimum of $300.
