Hamilton Smith Saddles Four Winners at Laurel

LAUREL, MD – Trainer Hamilton Smith, a perennial leading trainer in Maryland, saddled four winners on Sunday’s 10-race program at Laurel Park.
 
Smith, who began his training career in 1976 and has won more than 1,900 races, started the day saddling the winner of the early double, True Cat ($4.40) and Queen of Schmooze ($4.20). He then saddled the winner of the fourth in Scrap Copper ($9), a game 2-year-old son of Great Notion making his debut, and the fifth in Stillsexyatsixty ($4).

LAUREL, MD – In addition to a program of live racing featuring the 36th running of the $75,000 Twixt Stakes for fillies and mares 3 and up, Laurel Park will host its annual Crab Feast on Saturday, July 28.
 
Sponsored by Jailbreak Brewing Company, the event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. on the grandstand apron and offers various food and drink options as well as a DJ.

The seven-furlong Twixt for females 3 and older on the main track is the eighth stakes of Laurel’s ongoing 40-day summer meet, which runs through Sunday, Aug. 19.
