LAUREL, MD - With blizzard conditions fast approaching, Laurel Park cancelled its Friday program after the fifth race for the safety of its customers, employees, jockeys, horses and horsemen.
 
Laurel announced the cancellation of its Saturday and Sunday programs Thursday and announced both Laurel and Pimlico would be closed for simulcasting Saturday.
 

Laurel To Run Friday, Cancels Saturday And Sunday

LAUREL, MD - Laurel Park announced today it will go ahead with its scheduled Friday afternoon program but has cancelled live racing for both Saturday and Sunday due to an impending winter storm.
 
Laurel and Pimlico will be closed for simulcasting Saturday but they are tentatively scheduled to open for simulcast wagering Sunday.
 
A weather system approaching the Baltimore-Washington area is expected to produce snow and blizzard conditions beginning late Friday.

LAUREL, MD - After two tough beats in the Marylander Stakes and James F Lewis Stakes in his last two starts, M M G Racing Stable's Never Gone South returned to the winner's circle in a big way Saturday afternoon with a 7 1/4-length victory in the $75,000 Frank Whiteley Jr. Stakes at Laurel Park.

LAUREL, MD - Trainer Todd Pletcher, a finalist to win his eighth Eclipse Award as Outstanding Trainer at Saturday evening's 45th annual Eclipse Awards Dinner, has entered two 3-year-old fillies in Saturday's $75,000 The Marshua at Laurel Park.

The 6-furlong Marshua is one of three $75,000 stakes races scheduled Saturday afternoon at Laurel. First race post time is 12:25 p.m.

LAUREL, MD - Trainer Kieron Magee and jockey Jevian Toledo took their respective titles during Laurel Park's fall meet, which concluded Thursday afternoon.
            
Magee took the training title on the final day with his 24th victory of the meet, one more than Claudio Gonzalez and five more than Jamie Ness.
