LAUREL, MD – A year after being beaten as the favorite in the $100,000 Dave’s Friend, Heaven’s Runway made a triumphant return to Maryland by wearing down top choice Chief Lion through the stretch and edging past for a half-length victory Saturday at Laurel Park.

LAUREL, MD – The 2016 calendar year ended with some familiar names at the top of the standings on the Maryland circuit, as jockey Trevor McCarthy claimed his second leading rider title in three years and Kieron Magee finished with his third consecutive title as leading trainer.
 

Laurel Offers Special Nine-Race Monday Program

LAUREL, MD -  Laurel Park, which kicked off its 56-day winter-spring meet Sunday, Jan. 1, will host a special nine-race program Monday, Jan. 2 beginning at 12:30 p.m. 
 
The feature comes in Race 7, a $40,000 event for 3-year-old maidens going six furlongs. Sagamore Farm's Maryland Pride, trained by Horacio DePaz, will be making his first start since finishing fourth in his debut Nov. 11 at Laurel.
