LAUREL, MD – There will be a 20-cent jackpot carryover of $181,211.96 for a special live racing program Monday, April 2 after the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Saturday for the 24th consecutive racing day at Laurel Park.
A total of $46,814 was bet into the Rainbow 6 Saturday, adding to a carryover of $166,235.72 from Friday’s card. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $1,321.42.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 60 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 40 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Monday’s Rainbow 6 spans races 4-9 and includes a pair of $42,000 entry-level optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds in Race 5 and 8 and a $40,000 maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies in Race 6, all at one mile.
First race post time Monday is 1:10 p.m.
Laurel will not have live racing on Easter Sunday, April 1, but will offer a full 16-race Latin American Racing Channel simulcast from San Isidro. First race post time is 12:30 p.m.
Notes: Jockeys Kevin Gomez and Weston Hamilton each rode two winners Saturday. Gomez was first with Brahms Romp ($9.20) in the first race and Janes Brew ($19.40) in the eighth, while Hamilton scored on Bay of Cats ($5.20) in the seventh and Stormologist ($10.80) in the ninth.
