Laurel Park Cancels Live Racing After Second Race

 

LAUREL, MD. 12-26-12---Laurel Park cancelled live racing after the second race on Wednesday, Dec. 26 due to inclement weather. Laurel and its sister track, Pimlico Race Course, will remain open for simulcasting.

Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday, Dec. 27 with a 12:35 p.m. EST post time.

LAUREL, MD. 12-21-12---The leader among 2-year-old state-breds in both divisions will be determined in next week, starting with the Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Laurel Park.

Six fillies will race 7-1/2 furlongs in the mid-week week feature. All six are maiden winners but Walkwithapurpose has two wins on her resume.

Bold Affair Is Heavily Favored To Win Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes

LAUREL, MD. 12-20-12---On paper and over the Laurel Park main track, Bold Affair appears to tower over eight other fillies and mares entered to start in Saturday’s $125,000 Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes.

Already the winner of three stakes at Laurel Park this year, Bold Affair (4-5) won the Conniver in March and scored back-to-back victories in the Maryland Million Distaff Handicap and the Geisha Stakes. Toss in victories in the Skipat and Pimonetta Stakes at Pimlico this past spring and the Howard Wolfendale trainee boasts a record of nine wins in fifteen lifetime starts. Abel Castellano Jr. has the mount on the chestnut daughter of Two Punch.

Maryland Jockey Club To Race 146 Days In 2013

LAUREL, MD. 12-18-12---Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course will conduct 146 days of racing in 2013, the same number that was scheduled the last three years after the Maryland Racing Commission approved an agreement by the Maryland Jockey Club (MJC) and Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) at its monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon at Laurel Park.

LAUREL, MD. 12-15-12---Martin Scafidi’s Winning Image left no doubt about her intentions when she shot to the lead in the $100,000 Willa on the Move Stakes. A minute and eleven seconds later she had proven she was the best of six fillies and mares in Saturday’s feature at Laurel Park.

LAUREL, MD. 12-14-12---The Maryland Jockey Club (MJC), the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) and the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) today announced that they have come to a 10-year agreement for sustained racing at Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park.
