A Spirited Win by Ghouls Night Out in Jameela

Oldies But Goodies Has Plenty Left in Ben’s Cat  

LAUREL, MD – Mens Grille Racing’s Ghoul’s Night Out, a 19-1 longshot trained by Hamilton Smith and ridden by Jorge Vargas Jr., drove past A Great Time in deep stretch to win the $75,000 Jameela by a neck.

Ghoul’s Night Out, a 5-year-old mare by Ghostzapper, returned $40 after covering the 5 ½ furlong course in 1:02.65. It was her first victory on the turf in three attempts.

First race post for Saturday’s nine-race program is 1:10 p.m. The Rainbow 6 sequence will begin with the fourth race, a 5 ½ furlong turf event that has attracted a field of 11.

Multiple winning tickets Friday on the Rainbow 6 returned $1,191.92.

LAUREL, MD – The Maryland Jockey Club is partnering with the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association in hosting an inaugural Community Day Tuesday, July 23 at Laurel Park.

Created to celebrate the backstretch community and its contribution to the continued success of Maryland racing, Community Day will be held from noon to 4 p.m. outside the track kitchen.
