LAUREL, MD - Champion female sprinter La Verdad and stablemate Hot City Girl, who ended her 3-year-old season with a second-place finish in the La Brea (G1), are two of the 31 fillies and mares nominated for the $300,000 Barbara Fritchie Stakes (G2) Feb. 13 at Laurel Park.
LAUREL, MD - Candida H., a 4-year-old daughter of Lemon Drop Kid, drove past the stakes-winner Brenda's Way down the stretch Saturday to win the $75,000 Conniver Stakes at Laurel Park.
Trained by Michael Trombetta, Candida H. was ridden to victory by Julian Pimentel, who was celebrating his 35th birthday Saturday. Candida H. covered the seven furlongs in 1:24.05.
