March 16 Stakes Would be Two-Turn Debut for Multiple Stakes Winner

LAUREL, MD – Runnymede Racing’s multiple stakes-winning 3-year-old Alwaysmining put in his final breeze Saturday morning ahead of an expected start in the $100,000 Private Terms March 16 at Laurel Park.

113 Bettors Each Win $2,000 on Friday’s Stronach 5

LAUREL, MD – The Stronach 5, featuring races from Gulfstream Park, Laurel Park and Golden Gate Fields as well as an industry-low 12-percent takeout, awarded 113 bettors each with $2,025.50 Friday afternoon.

Southeast ($8) kicked off Friday’s sequence by winning the ninth race at Laurel and The Creep ($4.60) closed things out by winning the sixth race at Golden Gate. Slot Receiver ($9), winner of the 11th race at Gulfstream, provided the largest win payoff.

There was $258,853 wagered into the national pick 5.

The popular national Pick 5, with an industry-low 12-percent takeout, will kick off this week at Laurel Park at 5 p.m. After consecutive turf races at Gulfstream, attention shifts to California with two races at Golden Gate.

No one selected all five winners Saturday in the Late Pick 5, which returned $75.85 for tickets with four of five winners. The Late Pick 5, which offers an industry-low 12 percent takeout, covers Races 4-8 Sunday.

Inaugural Oaklawn Invitational Winner to Get Free Berth in Preakness

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Jockey Club announced today that the winner of the inaugural running of the $300,000 Oaklawn Invitational Saturday, May 4 at Oaklawn Park will receive a free berth in the starting gate for the 144th Preakness Stakes (G1), the Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown.

The 1 3/16th mile Preakness, to be run Saturday, May 18 at legendary Pimlico Race Course, will be one of 16 stakes – nine graded – worth $3.8 million that will be run Preakness weekend.
